IM epinephrine dose for anaphylaxis (0.01 mg/kg)

Weight-based intramuscular epinephrine dose (1 mg/mL) for anaphylaxis, with autoinjector strength suggestion.

Evidence tier: Guideline-derived.

Formula / logic

Epinephrine 0.01 mg/kg of 1 mg/mL (1:1000) intramuscularly into the mid-outer thigh, to a usual maximum of 0.5 mg (adolescent/adult) or 0.3 mg (child). May repeat every 5-15 minutes.

Interpretation

First-line for anaphylaxis. There is no absolute contraindication in anaphylaxis. Autoinjector strengths approximate the weight-based dose.
